Our Doctor:

Dr. David Porter
Dr. David Porter was raised and graduated in Newcastle, Wyoming. He was very active growing up working at the local grocery store during high school and playing football, baseball, and wrestling. Dr. Porter went on to play baseball in college, where he met his wife. After marriage, Dr. Porter worked in mining for three years in Nevada and Wyoming and saved all he could before he went back to school in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Dr. Porter has been married to Afton for more than 20 years, and they have six beautiful children ranging in age from 19 to 4. Dr. Porter is an integral part of their lives and stays very involved in the many activities they participate in. When Dr. Porter and his wife do have spare time, they like traveling to the Black Hills and enjoying the many activities the Hills have to offer.
Dr. Porter lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for eight years and graduated in 2007 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Three of Dr. Porter’s children were born in Lincoln, so he and Afton always look back with fond memories of their time in Nebraska. They made many lifelong friends and will always be grateful for their time in Lincoln. During school, Dr. Porter was just as eager to learn as he is now, always volunteering to take rotations in different areas of the state, and upon graduation, the school asked him to work for them until his Wyoming dental license was awarded.
Since coming back to Wyoming, Dr. Porter has had the privilege to study with doctors who are world renowned in their respective fields. These include Dr. David Hornbrook of the prestigious Hornbrook Center for Dentistry, Dr. John Nosti and Dr. Mike Smith from the Clinical Mastery Series, Dr. Mark Montgomery in TMJ and migraine therapy, Dr. Bill Hang in Orthodontics and Orthotropics, and Joy Moeller, RDH in the field of Myofunctional Therapy. Dr. Porter has also obtained advanced education from the College of Laser Dentistry and the WhiteCap Institute of implant dentistry. Dr. Porter continues to further his education by involving himself greatly in the dental community, taking advanced training courses, and lecturing to other doctors at national meetings and workshops. He also volunteers his time to many charitable organizations.
Dr. Porter believes in Gillette, Wyoming. He considers it a blessing that he is able to be a part of such a wonderful community. He has seen firsthand how people in this community give their time and energy to so many worthy causes. Dr. Porter feels just as strongly about giving back to the community. He has been a part of multiple dental days where he’s given free dental services for people in the community. He also has supported other great causes and has been very active in supporting the local youth programs in everything from intramural sports to junior and high school football, wrestling, and baseball, to name a few.
Dr. Porter is committed to giving the very best treatment to his patients, and this is why he has been so active in his education. The lives he has touched and changed inspire him to do more.

The TruDenta Process

Bite Force Analysis
Our proprietary T-Scan technology allows our doctors to precisely assess your mouth and jaw for dental imbalances during opening, closing, and chewing, right down to the amount and direction of the force exerted by each individual tooth.
Range of Motion Analysis
Dental imbalances often cause chronic muscle tension and inflammation, which can in turn limit your head and jaw movement. Our doctors measure and monitor the movement range of your head and jaw to more accurately determine the most effective treatment plan for your symptoms.
Headache History Form
Headaches can occur for many different reasons — in order to find the source of your headaches and determine if the TruDenta treatment process will be effective for you, your TruDenta doctor will speak with you in detail about your past headaches and their specific symptoms.
Muscle Exam
Your TruDenta doctor will locate the latent trigger points in your face and neck that restrict motion and contribute to jaw imbalances — these knots of tense muscle are often missed without a thorough examination.
Head Health Questionaire
Jaw or head trauma can cause a variety of hidden changes in the jaw, neck, and face that may later manifest as stiffness, pain, or headaches. By cataloging any possible sources of damage, your TruDenta doctor can more effectively focus your treatment plan.
Ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound treatment returns circulation to chronically sore and strained muscles by providing gentle heat and increasing blood flow, while the targeted sound waves break up scar tissue and deep adhesions.
Trigger Point Therapy
Manual trigger point therapy decreases and eliminates pain and tension in latent and active trigger points by breaking up muscle knots and increasing blood flow in order to decrease inflammation.
Electrocurrent
Our transcutaneous microcurrent stimulation therapy reduces muscle spasms and their accompanying pain through low-level electrical signals. It also decreases lactic acid build-up and encourages healthy nerve stimulation.
